AD 1212 RED WINE DECUGNANO DEI BARBI | ORVIETO UMBRIA

  • € 26,90

AD 1212 is the quintessential representation of Decugnano dei Barbi’s terroir, a red wine that narrates eight centuries of Umbrian winemaking history. This precious blend is made from the finest estate grapes, cultivated on old Pliocene marine soils rich in fossilized shells and oysters, lending the wine an outstanding and unreplaceable minerality.

Heritage Meets Innovation in Umbria’s Heart

The name AD 1212 honors the earliest recorded year of wine production at Decugnano, when two clerics, Giovanni and Pietro, tended these vineyards on behalf of the clergy of Orvieto. The masterful blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Montepulciano, aged for 12 months—50% in French barriques and 50% in stainless steel—develops the full range of marine terroir complexity at an elevation of 320 meters.

Tasting Profile and International Accolades

In the glass, it is a deep ruby red with purple hints, yielding a luxuriant nose of raspberry jam, licorice, and juniper berries. In the mouth, austere, full-bodied, and sumptuous, with great structure and length. International high-flying awards confirm the superior quality of this limited production wine.

Culinary Experience and Food Pairing

AD 1212 is a wine of beauty and substance, fitting to be served with hearty foods like game meats, roasts, and aged cheeses. Its robust frame and aromatic sophistication make it a fitting choice for special occasions as well as for those desiring a true wine experience in the green heart of Italy.
