Montefalco wines: sagrantino docg and montefalco rosso doc

Start with the style you want in the glass. Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG is dry, full-bodied and firmly tannic, made for rich dishes and time in the cellar. Montefalco Rosso DOC is easier to serve through a meal: Sangiovese brings fruit and freshness, while Sagrantino adds grip. Alongside the reds, you can also find whites from the area, especially Trebbiano Spoletino, when you want an Umbrian bottle with depth but not the weight of a red. These wines come from the vineyards around Montefalco and the neighboring villages of Bevagna and Castel Ritaldi, and you can order them all online. For more on the soil and the rules behind the label, see our guide to Montefalco's terroir.

Sagrantino for depth, Montefalco Rosso for the table

When the food is rich, serve Della Cima Villa Mongalli or Milziade Antano Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG with slow-cooked meat, grilled beef, game and aged cheeses. For mixed menus, Boccatone Tabarrini Montefalco Rosso DOC gives you the structure of Montefalco in a more flexible style.

Trebbiano Spoletino and Passito from the area

For fish, vegetables, white meats or lighter courses, Arneto Bellafonte Trebbiano Spoletino gives you a fuller white with freshness and length. The sweet side appears in Sagrantino Passito DOCG, best served with dark chocolate, dry pastries and aged cheeses.
